Southern Museum in Kennesaw Celebrates a Civil War Thanksgiving

10/16/08

War calls for a change in lifestyle, and never was this truer than during the Civil War. How exactly did both civilians and soldiers celebrate Thanksgiving during those harrowing years? The Southern Museum will help kids find out during the Children’s History Workshop “A Civil War Thanksgiving.”

“These workshops really help bring history to life for children,” explained the Southern Museum’s Director of Curriculum and Education Initiatives Jennifer Legates. “Through hands-on activities, participants will learn how to appreciate the hardships that people went through during the Civil War time period.”

“A Civil War Thanksgiving” will take place on November 15 from 10 AM to noon. Registration is required by November 7. The cost is $10 per child ages seven and up, or $7 for Museum members.
